"HERPES" |
Genital Herpes (which is different from Herpes Simplex) is a viral infection caused by the HSV-2 virus. It appears as sores or blisters on the penis, vulva, or around the genital area. Herpes is transmitted during unprotected sex, especially when the infected partner is shedding the virus during the last stages of an outbreak. It can also be transmitted when the infected person has no herpes symptoms. |
The condom is the best way to prevent
Genital Herpes during sex, as there is no known cure for it. Antiviral medications such as Acyclovir, Famciclovir and Valacyclovir can help in minimizing the herpes symptoms. Also, stress has been known to prolong Herpes, so avoiding stressful situations and managing stress can reduce the herpes symptoms. |
